Bali Weather & Bali Climate Information

Bali Weather & Bali Climate
Best time to visit Bali
Climate-wise the best time to visit Bali is between April and November, and most visitors prefer this time of the year to visit the island. Though climatically it is advised to visit Bali during the dry season of April to November, the Wet Season from November to March coincides with the southern hemisphere’s summer which attracts those who have time off over summer.

What to wear in Bali on holiday
Bali as all tropical islands has an extent of heat and humidity. Therefore, light natural fibres are recommended to keep you cool. You can wear T-Shirts, Shorts and Sandals. It is also a good idea to have hat and sunglasses to protect yourself from sun. You can also wear denim provided it is very lightweight but remember to avoid any tight styles otherwise this will chafe and keep you sweaty. Light and loose clothing is ultimately the best in Bali and if you wish to purchase any clothing, sunglasses and other items be sure to read our Bali Shopping and Bali Price Guide sections.

Bali holiday weather
Bali climate is very tropical with warm temperatures throughout the year. The daytime temperature hardly climbs to 30°C and the island receives a great level of sunshine. In fact, it experiences two distinctive seasons; dry season, from April till October, and wet seasons, from November till March. However, even during the middle of a wet monsoon, tourists can expect the sun to make an appearance during the afternoon.

Some areas of Bali present different weather patterns mainly due to the forest and mountains. Therefore you may see cloudy skies and showers throughout the year in Ubud and the mountainous forest areas of Bali. In higher mountainous regions also such as in Bedugul or Kintamani you’ll also expect to need a jumper or jacket as when evening falls the temperature can drop quite significantly.

Bali is located only eight degrees south of the equator, and so it does not experience much of an annual range in temperature. It has two seasonal periods Wet and Dry seasons which differ greatly in characteristics. The actual temperature does not vary too much-ranging at an average of 20 ºC to 33 ºC all year round. Overall, Bali is a warm climate zone.

Wet Season

In Bali, wet season can be highly experienced during December and January lasting through March. During this period, Bali remains humid, relative humidity averaging 75% with a high volume of rainfall also particularly in December to February where 280mm – 300mm averages are received monthly. Even when it rains in most areas you can often enjoy sunny days in selected areas such as Bukit near Jimbaran. Rainfall even in the wet season often only presents rain in the morning and evening to night with several fine periods of dry from mid day to late afternoon.

Dry Season

April to October is the Dry Season in Bali when the temperatures remain at an average of 20- 33 ºC, humidity lies at an average 60 – 65% and rainfall is at a minimum level. As in many coastal areas, the town is refreshed with an evening sea breeze which provides a welcome break from the heat. This time period is Bali’s ‘peak season’, so a good number of tourists are expected, particularly during July and August.
